Principal Front-End Web Developer

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in California.

📋 Description

• Identify, troubleshoot, and confirm bugs in the FortiSwitchOS web-based GUI code.

• Generate, suggest, and implement innovative features for the GUI.

• Examine bugs that may be linked to or originate from other sections of the codebase, which is primarily written in C.

• Collaborate with fellow FortiSwitch team members to gather information or assist in diagnosing and resolving bugs that occur in the GUI.

• Develop and uphold substantial amounts of i18n- and a11y-compliant HTML, JS, and CSS, with meticulous attention to TypeScript conventions, SCSS syntax, and established coding practices reflected in the codebase.

• Draft functional specifications for new features and engage with QA, management, product teams, and/or other engineers to discuss and refine these specifications.

• Suggest and proactively execute modifications to the structure of the GUI codebase to enhance maintainability and simplify the code structure and size.

• Evaluate and enhance the performance of the GUI system, encompassing both middleware/backend components and frontend aspects, and implement more efficient alternatives.

⛳️ Requirements

• A minimum of 5 years of experience in front-end web development.

• Familiarity or proficiency with TypeScript and SCSS.

• Proficient in HTML, CSS, and JavaScript (ES6).

• Skilled in utilizing AJAX and Promise methodologies.

• Knowledgeable about front-end component-based frameworks such as Vue or React.

• Quick learner of new languages and technologies/frameworks.

• Educational background in algorithmic complexity (regardless of a specific language).

• Self-driven with strong problem-solving, diagnostic, and documentation abilities.

• Capable of seamlessly collaborating with remote team members.
