This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Illinois, +1 more state.
• Offer technical guidance to pinpoint and create strategies and projects that yield business advantages.
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams to assess requirements and devise optimized technical solutions.
• Identify, develop, implement, and govern essential strategies and programs across the manufacturing platform.
• Leverage subject matter expertise, third-party engineering partners, and original equipment manufacturers to formulate labor-saving and cost-effective automation projects.
• Remain updated on industry regulations and codes pertaining to packaging equipment system design and operations.
• Conduct technical and economic feasibility analyses to back business initiatives.
• Create comprehensive and clear Front End Loading packages that demonstrate due diligence to secure project success.
• Collaborate with engineering teams to define cost, schedule, risk, and startup criteria for projects.
• Compose detailed functional control descriptions for unit operations and processing systems.
• Review Front End Loading packages or equivalent deliverables to verify accuracy, completeness, and operational effectiveness.
• Generate rough order of magnitude estimates to guide early business case direction.
• Troubleshoot and promote continuous enhancement of existing packaging operations.
• Spearhead machine design enhancements and equipment modifications.
• Conduct assessments and surveys at production plant sites, providing necessary support as required.
• Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering, Robotics Engineering, or Packaging Engineering.
• Over 10 years of experience in food manufacturing with a focus on packaging system design.
• Proven experience in leading teams and addressing complex technical challenges.
• Subject matter expertise in one or more aspects of food production line packaging equipment.
• Familiarity with machine design and experience in a manufacturing environment regulated by the United States Department of Agriculture or the Food and Drug Administration.
• Demonstrated success in developing and implementing automation and robotic solutions.
• Experience in project engineering and project execution.
• Knowledge of continuous improvement practices within engineering design.
• Ability to translate project requirements into technical solutions based on sound engineering principles.
• Strong experience in packaging equipment engineering and its practical application.
• Willingness to travel up to 50 percent to support plant operations.
