Principal Engineer, Cloud Systems

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Florida.

📋 Description

• Collaborates across the Infrastructure and Operations portfolio to support both private and public cloud systems, operating systems, middleware, storage, database platforms, and other essential infrastructure products.

• Provides informal coaching and guidance to the I&O Engineering team, assisting department leadership.

• Acts as a subject matter expert for the advanced analysis and resolution of the most intricate issues.

• Develops automation solutions to enhance operational efficiency and deliver capabilities more effectively.

• Formulates solutions for challenges affecting mission-critical systems and implements automation to avert future occurrences.

• Supports and executes private cloud Hybrid Cloud Infrastructure (HCI) technologies.

• Holds a senior position within a Center of Excellence dedicated to cloud usage and cloud development standards.

• Maintains a comprehensive understanding of existing server, storage, networking, software, hardware, and virtual environments to facilitate scaling according to various project needs.

• Ensures that all cloud environment usage adheres to governance standards and contributes to the enhancement of security and operational efficiency norms.

• Develops Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) for Healthfirst operations teams to aid in the management of products.

• Serves as a senior escalation point for operations and delivery teams regarding incident and ticket resolution, participating in an on-call rotation.

• Acts as a technical leader within Infrastructure & Operations and collaborates with Development teams in the realms of Cloud technology and automation.

⛳️ Requirements

• A technical degree from an accredited institution, or a high school diploma or GED from an accredited institution, accompanied by equivalent work experience.

• Demonstrated experience in designing, building, and managing Linux/Unix-based and Windows systems.

• Extensive experience with cloud platforms including Amazon Web Services (AWS), Azure, Google Cloud Platform (GCP), etc.

• Background in I&O Engineering, including oversight of both public and private cloud technologies.

• Proven experience with automation scripting tools such as BASH, Python, and/or PowerShell.

• Significant Infrastructure as Code (IaC) experience using automation and open-source tools.

• Proven track record in identifying repeatable processes and collaborating with teams to foster innovation and automation.
