Principal Database Administrator, DBA

📋 Description

• Lead the development of high availability and disaster recovery strategies for essential banking systems.

• Create and implement a scalability roadmap that includes partitioning and sharding strategies.

• Conduct thorough query optimization and proactively address performance bottlenecks.

• Develop and oversee scalable inference and connection pooling strategies.

• Architect the monitoring framework and establish SLIs/SLOs to ensure database health.

• Enforce banking-grade security protocols.

• Collaborate with product teams to guarantee support for a high-load environment.

• Raise the technical standards for the DBA role through mentoring and establishing best practices.

⛳️ Requirements

• Over 5 years of experience as a PostgreSQL DBA in high-load, production settings (preferably within Fintech or mission-critical systems).

• In-depth understanding of index design (B-tree, GIN, GiST, BRIN), partitioning, and vacuum tuning.

• Demonstrated experience in designing streaming replication, clustering, and automated backup validation.

• Practical experience with cloud-managed PostgreSQL (specifically GCP) and Linux systems administration.

• Skilled in Infrastructure as Code (Terraform, Ansible) and CI/CD workflows (GitLab, ArgoCD).

• Proficient in complex queries, stored procedures, and functions.

• Experience in building monitoring and alerting systems for databases (Prometheus/Grafana).

• Fluent in English.
