Principal Data Engineer

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in United States.

📋 Description

• Design, construct, and uphold scalable and effective data pipelines and systems in accordance with contemporary data engineering best practices.

• Assess and prototype new tools and technologies, analyzing their advantages and potential risks.

• Create and sustain scalable data pipelines and models utilizing Databricks, dbt, and SQL (PostgreSQL).

• Develop comprehensive data solutions by leveraging AWS services such as Redshift, RDS, S3, Glue, Lambda, DMS, and CloudWatch.

• Execute data transformations and integrations using Python and Java.

• Ensure the reliability, performance, and maintainability of end-to-end data systems.

• Apply infrastructure-as-code principles using Terraform for managing cloud resources.

• Monitor and enhance system health and performance using CloudWatch and Splunk.

• Provide mentorship to junior engineers and conduct code reviews.

• Effectively communicate technical subjects to both technical and non-technical audiences.

• Collaborate with cross-functional stakeholders to identify data requirements and deliver solutions within agile settings.


⛳️ Requirements

• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a similar technical discipline.

• Over 10 years of professional experience in data engineering or related fields.

• Strong practical experience in:

• Databricks (deep expertise required).

• AWS native services.

• Dbt, SQL (PostgreSQL), Python, Java, and AWS services (Redshift, RDS, S3, Glue, Lambda, DMS, CloudWatch), as well as Data Pipelines, Data Modeling, System Maintenance, Data Integration, and Performance Optimization.

• Demonstrated leadership experience within technical teams.

• Strong analytical and problem-solving capabilities.

• Experience in agile, iterative software development environments.

• Ability to swiftly learn and apply new technologies and domain-specific knowledge.

• Exceptional written and verbal communication abilities, capable of conveying complex topics to diverse audiences.
