Principal Cyber Governance & Risk Advisor, Senior Associate

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in United Kingdom.

📋 Description

• Oversee autonomous cyber governance and risk assessments for intricate organizations.

• Evaluate risk appetite, ownership, the effectiveness of controls, and decisions regarding risk treatment.

• Examine policies, risk registers, control mappings, evidence of assurance, and governance frameworks.

• Assess whether the evidence substantiates the conclusions presented to senior leadership.

• Clearly communicate cyber risks and control deficiencies to boards, executives, and non-technical stakeholders.

• Facilitate interviews and workshops with CISOs, risk owners, technology leaders, and control owners.

• Collaborate with security architects, technical evaluators, and other Intelance experts.

• Compose clear, defensible, and client-ready reports.

• Complete specific training related to schemes and engage in internal quality assessments as necessary.


⛳️ Requirements

• Extensive senior-level experience in cyber security governance, risk management, or formal cyber assurance, typically acquired over a minimum of ten years.

• Experience with large, complex, or regulated organizations.

• Strong track record of advising boards, executive teams, or senior risk committees.

• Practical understanding of recognized frameworks such as ISO 27001, NIST CSF, Cyber Essentials, or their equivalents.

• Exceptional proficiency in written English. Reports should be client-ready with minimal editing required.

• Ability to work autonomously and respectfully challenge weak evidence.

• Preferred: UK Cyber Security Council professional registration at Principal or Chartered level in Cyber Security Governance & Risk Management. Candidates demonstrating experience at the Chartered level and willing to pursue formal professional assessment will also be considered.

• General certifications such as CISSP, CISM, CRISC, ISO 27001 Lead Auditor, or Lead Implementer are advantageous but do not substitute for the professional registration requirement.

• Must reside in the UK, be able to attend UK client sites as agreed, and be eligible to contract through a limited company or other compliant arrangements.
