Risk Officer

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Bermuda.

📋 Description

• Oversee, implement, and continually refine the comprehensive Enterprise Risk Management (ERM) framework, policies, and risk registers to align with BMA expectations.

• Perform regular risk evaluations focused on financial, operational, cyber, and crypto-specific threats.

• Supervise and enforce stringent controls regarding the "control of assets" and the custody of client assets.

• Track and monitor daily Key Risk Indicators (KRIs), highlighting emerging trends and vulnerabilities for the management team.

• Provide direct reports to the Board of Directors concerning the suitability and effectiveness of the risk framework and emerging threats.

• Assist in the preparation of risk documentation, evidence, and annual prudential returns for the Bermuda Monetary Authority (BMA) and external auditors.

• Facilitate the execution, testing, and annual auditing of business continuity plans, disaster recovery protocols, wind-down strategies, and technology/cyber risk programs.

• Ensure compliance with BMA prudential standards at all times by monitoring local net asset and capital adequacy requirements.

⛳️ Requirements

• A Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Risk Management, Economics, Business, or Law.

• Possession of professional risk management or financial certifications (e.g., FRM, PRM) is a considerable advantage.

• 3–5+ years of substantial experience in senior or mid-level risk management positions within digital asset business (DAB) platforms, digital asset custody firms, payment services, or traditional financial institutions.

• In-depth understanding of Bermuda's Digital Asset Business Act (DABA) and the regulatory requirements set forth by the BMA.

• Practical knowledge of digital asset mechanics including DLT, custody protocols, secure development lifecycles, and blockchain analytics tools.

• Must be based in Bermuda (or willing to relocate) to meet our physical presence and local management obligations under the BMA.
