This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in California.
• In the role of Principal Competitive Intelligence Analyst specializing in Automation and AI, you will take on the strategic leadership for the most rapidly advancing segment of the Cortex portfolio.
• Positioned within the Product Management division, you will spearhead the Competitive Strategy for our initiatives centered on Automation and AI-driven security.
• Your objective is to transcend the "AI hype" by utilizing Structured Analytic Techniques (SATs) to analyze technical competitive evidence.
• You will ensure that our "Autonomous SOC" roadmap is grounded in reality, enabling our field teams to effectively counter competitor assertions regarding AI-led security operations.
• Utilize SATs (such as Alternative Futures Analysis) to predict the progression of AI within the SOC.
• You will pinpoint "Signposts" related to competitor movements into Generative AI, LLM-based triage, and low-code/no-code automation to inform our long-term research and development efforts.
• Act as a bridge between extensive research outcomes and Product Management by conducting thorough technical validations of competitor AI claims.
• You will distinguish between "Marketing AI" and "Functional AI" to highlight where PANW has a competitive edge in model efficacy and data gravity.
• Collaborate with the Enablement Lead to devise "Kill" campaigns specifically aimed at traditional SOAR vendors and emerging "AI-first" startups.
• You will articulate the "Inconvenient Truths" surrounding competitor strategies, integration weaknesses, and AI hallucinations.
• Conduct in-depth evaluations of competitor "copilots" and automation platforms.
• You will identify areas where our automation "moat" is diminishing and prioritize feature gaps that can reduce "Mean Time to Respond" (MTTR) for our clients.
• Lead post-mortem analyses on critical automation deals.
• You will convert insights into actionable Product Requirement Documents (PRDs) that address technical challenges in how customers construct and expand their security playbooks.
• 8+ years of experience in Competitive Intelligence, Product Management, or Technical Research with a strong emphasis on Security Orchestration (SOAR), AI/ML, or SOC automation.
• A clear understanding of the distinctions between heuristic and transformer models is essential.
• You must demonstrate the ability to substantiate competitive claims using rigorous methodologies such as Analysis of Competing Hypotheses (ACH).
• Proven expertise in synthesizing high-density technical information (e.g., API capabilities or model training datasets) into succinct, impactful "Bottom Line Up Front" presentations for busy Product and Executive leaders.
• You can assess a competitor's "AI Copilot" and grasp the downstream implications for data privacy, cost-to-serve, and analyst fatigue.
• You must be prepared to internally challenge the "AI hype" by providing objective, evidence-based reports on our standing in the automation landscape.
• Previous experience in Product Management for an AI-focused or Automation-heavy security product is a notable advantage.
• Familiarity with LLM frameworks (such as LangChain) and their integration into security workflows is advantageous.
• A profound understanding of the "Analyst Experience"—recognizing the points at which automation excels or falters in a high-pressure SOC environment.
• SCIP/CIP or a similar strategic intelligence certification is preferred.
