This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Germany.
• Define and spearhead applied AI projects across agent systems, evaluation of LLMs, and optimization of models.
• Take full ownership of complex problem spaces from inception to production impact, including framing and experimentation.
• Create and execute evaluation and benchmarking frameworks, leveraging existing industry standards and, when necessary, establishing new ones.
• Propel innovation in agentic systems, focusing on areas such as routing, memory, and context engineering.
• Develop and assess new methodologies (e.g., model combinations, fine-tuning techniques, or open-weight models).
• Convert research findings into production-ready solutions while collaborating closely with engineering teams.
• Serve as a technical authority and multiplier by mentoring others and establishing best practices.
• Establish and lead the Applied Science guild to promote knowledge sharing and elevate standards across teams.
• Influence product and technical strategies by identifying opportunities where applied science can deliver significant value.
• Over 12 years of experience in Applied Machine Learning, Applied Science, or a related domain, with a proven history of deploying ML/AI systems in production.
• Familiarity with agent-based systems or multi-step workflows involving LLMs.
• Strong and recent experience with LLMs and Generative AI systems, preferably in production settings.
• Proven capability to manage and drive complex problem spaces from initial framing to achieving measurable outcomes.
• In-depth knowledge of evaluation methodologies, benchmarking, and model performance analysis, including human-in-the-loop strategies.
• Practical technical expertise, capable of prototyping, experimenting, and delivering solutions in partnership with engineering teams.
• Experience with production systems, balancing speed, quality, and scalability effectively.
• Demonstrated technical leadership and influence, with a background in shaping direction, mentoring others, or leading cross-team initiatives.
• Ability to function at both strategic and execution levels, linking long-term vision with everyday decisions.
• Excellent communication skills, with the capability to clearly convey ideas and sway both technical and non-technical stakeholders.
• Evidence of broader impact (e.g., published work, open-source contributions, internal initiatives, or industry influence) is advantageous.
