Principal AI/ML Engineer

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in United States.

📋 Description

• Become a part of SignalFire’s Talent Network for Principal AI/ML Engineer positions at VC-backed startups instead of applying for a particular role.

• Design, develop, and enhance machine learning and deep learning models for operational systems.

• Investigate and implement cutting-edge AI techniques, including LLMs, transformers, and reinforcement learning.

• Spearhead AI strategy and pinpoint areas for innovation and model enhancement.

• Create scalable training and inference pipelines for AI-driven applications.

• Collaborate with engineering, data, and product teams to weave AI/ML into business solutions.

• Improve ML models for efficiency, accuracy, and scalability in real-world applications.

• Ensure solid MLOps practices, encompassing model monitoring, retraining, and automation of deployments.

• Contribute to AI/ML research publications, patents, and open-source initiatives.

• SignalFire reviews applications continuously and may connect suitable candidates with talent partners or leaders from portfolio companies.

⛳️ Requirements

• Over 8 years of experience in AI/ML, deep learning, or applied AI.

• Proficient in Python and ML frameworks such as TensorFlow, PyTorch, JAX, and Hugging Face Transformers.

• Strong expertise in computer vision, NLP, generative AI, or reinforcement learning.

• Experience in developing scalable AI pipelines, data processing workflows, and distributed training systems.

• Knowledge of big data technologies including Apache Spark, Kafka, and Hadoop.

• Familiarity with MLOps platforms like MLflow, TFX, and SageMaker.

• In-depth understanding of LLMs, transformer architectures, and retrieval-augmented generation (RAG) pipelines.

• Experience with model quantization, fine-tuning, and optimizing performance.

• Strong knowledge of AWS, GCP, Azure, Docker, and Kubernetes.

• Proven track record of technical leadership, mentoring, and fostering AI innovation.
