Power Systems Software Engineer

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in United States.

📋 Description

• Create and sustain high-fidelity power flow and optimal power flow models.

• Develop and uphold automated tests and validation pipelines to ensure model accuracy, detect regressions, and guarantee solver reliability.

• Lead the architectural design of solvers that strike a balance between accuracy and computational efficiency.

• Construct tools that visualize and convert model outputs into actionable insights for both internal and client-facing applications.

• Collaborate with our utility clients to comprehend their datasets and validate model outputs against their system measurements.

• Work alongside Camus’ internal teams to integrate utility models (GIS, ADMS, and time series data) into the Camus platform.

• Identify and address computational bottlenecks in extensive grid simulations.

⛳️ Requirements

• Master's or Ph.D. in Electrical Engineering, Computer Science, or a related field, along with 5+ years of practical experience deploying power systems models in real-world scenarios.

• Solid foundation in power systems principles, methods, and convex/non-convex optimization solvers for distribution grids.

• Experience handling large utility datasets (GIS, SCADA, AMI, network models).

• Familiarity with OpenDSS or other open-source or commercial power flow modeling software.

• Capability to translate complex mathematical formulations into production-ready code.

• Proficient in Python: you produce clean, maintainable, production-ready code, rather than just analysis scripts.

• Exceptional problem-solving, communication, and collaboration abilities.

• Comfortable working autonomously within a small team, balancing the speed of delivery with the engineering discipline required for production-grade software.
