Power Systems Software Engineer

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in United States.

📋 Description

• Create and sustain high-fidelity power flow and optimal power flow models.

• Develop and uphold automated tests and validation pipelines to ensure model accuracy, identify regressions, and maintain solver reliability.

• Lead the design of solvers that achieve a balance between accuracy and computational efficiency.

• Design tools that visualize and convert model outputs into actionable insights for both internal and client-facing applications.

• Collaborate with our utility clients to comprehend their datasets and validate model outputs against their system data.

• Work alongside Camus’ internal teams to incorporate utility models (GIS, ADMS, and time series data) into the Camus platform.

• Detect and address computational bottlenecks in large-scale grid simulations.

⛳️ Requirements

• Master’s or Ph.D. in Electrical Engineering, Computer Science, or a related field with over 5 years of industry experience in deploying power systems models for practical applications.

• Strong foundation in power systems principles, methods, and convex/non-convex optimization solvers for distribution grids.

• Proven experience with extensive utility datasets (GIS, SCADA, AMI, and network models).

• Familiarity with OpenDSS or other open-source or commercial power flow modeling software.

• Capability to convert intricate mathematical formulations into production-ready code.

• Proficient in Python: you produce clean, maintainable, production-ready code, not merely analysis scripts.

• Exceptional problem-solving, communication, and teamwork abilities.

• Comfortable working independently within a small team, balancing the speed of delivery with the engineering rigor that high-quality software requires.
