This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in United States.
• Ownership of the Kubernetes platform: Design, deploy, and manage production Kubernetes clusters on AWS EKS as well as on-premises / bare-metal environments — taking charge of cluster lifecycle, upgrades, multi-cluster topology, RBAC, networking, ingress, storage, and workload security.
• Platform engineering: Create golden paths and self-service capabilities — including Helm charts, operators/CRDs, reusable manifests, and internal tools — that enable product and delivery teams to efficiently and securely deploy onto the platform.
• GitOps & automation: Implement declarative, GitOps-driven delivery (using Argo CD / Flux) and treat all infrastructure as code to ensure environments are reproducible, auditable, and easily recoverable.
• Reliability & SRE: Establish SLOs and error budgets, lead incident response and blameless post-mortems, direct capacity and autoscaling strategies, and continuously enhance the resilience and security of critical workloads.
• Observability: Develop and manage monitoring, logging, tracing, and alerting systems (utilizing Prometheus, Grafana, OpenTelemetry, and similar tools) to provide clear and actionable insights into the health of every deployed system.
• CI/CD pipelines: Create and maintain CI/CD pipelines that facilitate streamlined build, test, and deployment processes across various services and environments.
• R&D and problem-solving: Explore infrastructure-level challenges, prototype potential solutions, and implement them into production.
• Debugging & issue resolution: Quickly troubleshoot and resolve infrastructure, networking, and cluster issues to maintain system integrity and performance.
• Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field — or equivalent practical experience.
• At least 5 years of experience in cloud/platform engineering, with substantial hands-on experience operating Kubernetes in production environments.
• Demonstrated success in designing and managing scalable, secure, and reliable cloud and container-based platforms.
• Experience in managing on-premise and bare-metal deployments of Kubernetes clusters.
• Exceptional problem-solving abilities, with a knack for conducting thorough research and creating innovative solutions to complex infrastructure challenges.
• Strong communication skills and a true ability to collaborate effectively across cross-functional, distributed teams.
• Willingness to travel throughout the African continent to support our in-country teams as necessary.
• Competitive salary and performance-based bonuses.
• Comprehensive health and wellness benefits.
• Opportunities for professional development and continuous learning.
• Flexible work arrangements to promote work-life balance.
