This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in United States.
• Take ownership of the technical design, integration, expansion, and continuous engineering support for physical security systems across new data center constructions, significant upgrades, and the current site portfolio.
• Design, implement, and create security design sets for access control, video management/CCTV, intrusion detection/alarm systems, intercoms, and perimeter protection systems.
• Develop system architecture, engineering drawings, network diagrams, and technical requirements/specifications.
• Create, modify, review, and proof plans, details, diagrams, schedules, and programming matrices.
• Write and enforce security standards and specifications; collaborate with architects, general contractors, and integrators.
• Validate designs against Vultr standards, compliance controls, and relevant industry and regulatory requirements; manage design-review gate and sign-off process.
• Integrate physical security platforms with IT infrastructure, identity management systems, and SOC tools, encompassing API-based integrations, databases, and middleware.
• Perform technical analyses for cable distance/voltage drop, conduit and cable-fill sizing, camera coverage/pixel-on-target, and systems cost estimation.
• Conduct product research, evaluate technologies, and pursue ongoing technical education; suggest improvements or upgrades.
• Investigate and resolve technical issues related to applicable codes, standards, and regulations.
• Support system configuration, testing, commissioning, and acceptance testing; assess vendor designs and statements of work.
• Execute pre-handover inspections and installation quality assurance against approved designs and standards.
• Offer post-handover technical support, including system tuning, health monitoring, root-cause analysis, incident response, investigations, and forensic video review as required.
• Engage in security risk assessments and audits; contribute to business continuity and disaster recovery planning.
• Develop and maintain system documentation, SOPs, and runbooks for operations and knowledge transfer.
• Coordinate daily with architects, general contractors, PMs/TPMs, integrators, IT, procurement, physical security, and SOC/operations teams.
• Travel 30–40% of the time.
• Over 5 years of experience in physical security systems design/engineering (access control, video/CCTV, intrusion detection, perimeter protection).
• Strong knowledge of door hardware and its integration into physical security systems, including electrified exit devices/trim, strikes, and magnetic locks.
• Proficient in reading floor plans.
• Hands-on experience with Genetec is required.
• Additional familiarity with Lenel OnGuard, C•CURE, AMAG, Milestone, or Avigilon is a plus.
• Thorough understanding of IP networking (TCP/IP, VLANs, PoE), server infrastructure (Windows/Linux), and databases/system integrations.
• Working knowledge of compliance controls, data center environments, and cybersecurity principles as they pertain to physical security systems.
• Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Information Technology, Security Systems, or equivalent professional experience.
• Strong analytical, troubleshooting, and technical study skills, including cable/voltage drop, NVR sizing, conduit sizing, camera coverage calculations, and root-cause analysis.
• Highly proficient in Microsoft Office and Google Suite.
• Excellent written, verbal, and interpersonal communication skills.
• Comfortable managing sensitive security information and presenting design details to both technical and non-technical stakeholders.
• Preferred: experience supporting global or multi-site security environments.
• Preferred: familiarity with cloud-hosted or hybrid security platforms.
• Preferred: experience assisting 24/7 SOC operations.
• Preferred: experience with CAD/BIM platforms, such as Revit.
• Preferred certifications: PSP, NICET SSI, manufacturer certifications (Lenel, Genetec, Avigilon, Milestone), or relevant networking/IT certifications such as Network+ or CCNA.
