Permit Specialist

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in New Jersey.

📋 Description

• Prepare and submit permit applications, which includes DOT, pole attachments, ROW, and traffic control permits, ensuring compliance with local, state, and federal regulations;

• Conduct research and interpret jurisdiction-specific policies along with GIS data to enhance permit accuracy;

• Initiate applications for Joint Use Pole and ROW permits, and assist with Pole Loading Analysis (PLA) and Make Ready Engineering (MRE) reviews;

• Monitor permit statuses utilizing Smartsheet, KMZ files, Excel, and permit management systems to keep track of submissions, approvals, and expiration dates;

• Collaborate with Engineering, Field, GIS, and Permitting teams to ensure adherence to project schedules;

• Engage proactively with permitting agencies to address issues and prevent delays;

• Maintain effective communication channels through Teams, Outlook, and various collaboration tools.

⛳️ Requirements

• A minimum of 3 years of experience in utility or telecom permitting, permit coordination, or related positions;

• Knowledge of NESC standards, municipal codes, joint-use agreements, and procedures for pole permits;

• Experience with PLA, MRE, and submissions for ROW or DOT permits;

• Proficient in AutoCAD or similar software;

• Skilled in GIS applications, KMZ/Google Earth, Smartsheets, Microsoft Excel, and tools for permit tracking;

• Detail-oriented with exceptional organizational and communication abilities.

• Preferred Qualifications:

• Experience in traffic control, railroad, or environmental permitting;

• Familiarity with telecom engineering, field surveys, or design collaboration;

• Experience supporting federally funded projects such as BEAD or RDOF;

• Advanced expertise in GIS and permit tracking software.
