This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in United States.
β’ Accurately process and post payments related to insurance, patients, collections, and miscellaneous items within set turnaround times.
β’ Oversee ERA/EFT enrollment, track enrollment statuses, and maintain electronic payment processing for designated practices.
β’ Download, assess, and reconcile electronic remittance advice (ERA), explanations of benefits (EOBs), and payment files from clearinghouses and payer portals.
β’ Investigate and resolve payment discrepancies, denials, recoupments, overpayments, and various account inconsistencies.
β’ Reach out to insurance carriers to acquire missing EOBs, verify payment details, and address payment-related concerns.
β’ Reconcile daily payment activities with bank deposits to ensure the accuracy of financial transactions.
β’ Review and update patient accounts by applying payments, denials, deductibles, and contractual adjustments per payer contracts and company guidelines.
β’ Establish and maintain access to payer portals, ensuring that all payment-related documentation is organized and scanned in a timely manner.
β’ Achieve departmental productivity and accuracy goals while upholding confidentiality and delivering outstanding customer service.
β’ Cross-train in payment posting responsibilities and provide backup support to facilitate timely month-end closing and departmental functions.
β’ Associate degree in accounting, business, healthcare, or a medical billing certificate is required.
β’ High School Diploma is acceptable with 3+ years of practical medical billing experience.
β’ At least 1 year of specialized experience with a medical billing certificate, or a minimum of 3 yearsβ experience without a billing certificate.
β’ Proficient in accessing, inputting, and retrieving information from a computer.
β’ Experience with medical software programs is necessary.
β’ Familiarity with office procedures and equipment, including computers, faxes, and copiers.
β’ Competence in using word processing, spreadsheets, databases, and presentation software, particularly MS Word, Excel, PowerPoint, OneNote, and Office 365.
β’ Ability to exercise sound judgment.
β’ Skill in communicating accurately and succinctly.
β’ Capacity to remain calm and composed under pressure.
β’ Strong interpersonal skills to manage sensitive and confidential situations.
