This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Kansas, +3 more states.
• Assist and support the Patient Access team within the call center and handle new patient referrals.
• Provide adaptable daily coverage across essential access functions.
• Schedule patient appointments via telephone or in-person interactions.
• Offer information regarding clinic operations.
• Gather and update patient demographic information.
• Answer incoming calls and route them as necessary.
• Coordinate appointment schedules for patients requiring multiple services.
• Verify insurance eligibility and manage referrals, including follow-ups.
• Address insurance denials and collaborate with providers to file appeals.
• Report on abandoned call rates during Tiered Huddles.
• Welcome patients upon their arrival at the clinic.
• Accept payments and issue receipts.
• Manage and review encounter forms.
• Copy and upload insurance cards into the EMR system.
• Reconcile and balance personal cash drawer on a daily basis.
• Prepare ancillary forms for additional services.
• Promote the use of the Patient Portal.
• Retrieve, copy, create, and request patient medical records and charts.
• Validate patient handouts for compliance dates.
• Discuss financial accounts with patients.
• Obtain prior authorization from insurance providers.
• Secure referrals for HMO patients.
• Collect and verify proof of income for sliding-scale discounts.
• Monitor and manage referral work queues within the EMR.
• Transcribe external referrals into the EMR system.
• Coordinate referrals to facilitate patient access to clinical care.
• Dispense and reorder supplies as needed.
• Engage in Quality Improvement activities.
• Type notes and letters for physicians.
• Create immunization cards.
• Sort and distribute incoming mail.
• Communicate professionally with patients, co-workers, employees, and external parties.
• Maintain patient confidentiality at all times.
• Perform additional duties as assigned.
• Must reside and work full-time in Arkansas, Kansas, Missouri, Oklahoma, or Texas prior to the first day of employment.
• High School Diploma or GED is required.
• A minimum of 3 years of experience in customer service is required.
• At least 6 months of experience in a clinical environment is mandatory.
• No specific license, certification, or registration is required.
• Advanced verbal and written communication skills are essential.
• Strong customer service skills are necessary.
• Advanced ability to work effectively with employees, patients, and external stakeholders.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office tools is required.
• Familiarity with hospital policies and procedures is beneficial.
• Adequate keyboarding skills to meet job requirements.
• Ability to uphold patient confidentiality is a must.
