This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Kentucky.
• Expand business opportunities.
• Work collaboratively with the GM of Sales to establish growth objectives for your territory or division.
• Create a sales strategy and maintain an active list of customers and top prospects.
• Hold regular meetings with your GM of Sales to evaluate opportunities and strategize on advancing them.
• Comprehend Steel Technologies' strengths and value proposition, effectively conveying this to potential and current clients.
• Cultivate and sustain robust customer relationships through in-person meetings and appropriate entertainment engagements.
• Optimize visits by engaging decision-makers and selling across verticals, including engineers and quality teams.
• Network extensively with all customer levels to integrate Steel Tech into their daily operations and needs.
• Actively seek new business opportunities (in-person) and request quotes (in-person) that align with our value proposition.
• Respond to quotations promptly using the Company’s standard quoting format.
• Convert quotations into actual business revenue.
• Enhance profitability and/or expand with existing customers and accounts.
• Understand the customer’s business to advance within their value chain.
• Provide market intelligence to clients and establish yourself as a trusted partner.
• Utilize business and market insights to promote profitability and growth.
• Draft effective customer agreements that minimize risk for Steel Tech (collaborate with the Legal Department).
• Ensure customers adhere to the terms of these agreements, including accountability for obsolete and slow-moving inventory.
• Continuously develop your understanding of the market and our industry.
• Become the subject matter expert for all business within your territory or division, maintaining accurate records in the Customer Relationship Management database (CRM) for management communication.
• Gather competitor intelligence and assess Steel Tech's value proposition in comparison.
• Acquire knowledge of end-user markets through customer interactions and research.
• Engage in your professional development within the Company.
• Collaborate with your Support Team to ensure exceptional customer service.
• Work alongside the Account Manager to enhance forecast accuracy based on customer interactions.
• Address tier 3 escalations with customers, leveraging deep relationships to resolve issues (e.g., sales contract disputes, aged inventory, Accounts Receivable collections, etc.).
• Ensure timely communication of pricing updates to the Support Team.
• Perform other duties as assigned.
• A Bachelor’s degree in a related field is preferred, along with one to five years of sales experience.
• Formal education may be substituted with relevant experience and training when competency is demonstrated.
• Ability to work autonomously.
• Sales Professional with a solid understanding of sales techniques, relationship building, and strong interpersonal skills.
• Familiarity with raw materials, production processes, quality control, costs, and techniques to maximize effective manufacturing and distribution of steel and other flat-rolled metal products.
• Time management and proactive planning skills are essential.
• Consistent in-person client engagement with timely and strategic outreach.
• Capability to prospect and make cold calls.
• Professional accountability, both internally and externally.
• Willingness to travel 60-80% of the time.
