This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in New York.
• Inspect, assess, negotiate, and evaluate both first- and third-party auto physical damage claims.
• Ensure consistent service quality throughout the entire claims lifecycle.
• Manage assignments and promptly travel to vehicle or equipment locations.
• Scope claims and determine physical claim values using recognized resources, estimating, and evaluation software.
• Prepare and document appraisals for vehicle/equipment damage along with Actual Cash and Replacement values.
• Collaborate with assigned Claim Professionals from the initial investigation through to final recovery.
• Negotiate claim values with customers and repair facilities.
• Determine total-loss settlement amounts and negotiate/convey settlements within given authority.
• Provide inspection assistance to other lines of business and departments, including catastrophe response.
• Review coverage, policy conditions, provisions, exclusions, and endorsements.
• Oversee repair processes, claim and expense reserves, action plans, and diaries.
• Communicate damage assessments and secure payment authorization.
• Engage in catastrophe deployments, potentially away for a minimum of 16 days.
• Perform additional duties as assigned.
• High School Diploma or GED with at least one year of auto appraisal experience.
• Valid Driver's License required.
• Associate's Degree, Bachelor's Degree, or Technical School Degree as part of candidate qualifications.
• State appraiser and claim handling licenses where applicable.
• A minimum of two years of auto appraisal experience preferred.
• Previous experience with an insurance carrier preferred.
• Strong technical background and in-depth knowledge of auto repair, repair techniques, terminology, and construction.
• Comprehensive understanding of claims appraisal systems and overall claims operations.
• Proficient in Windows, including Excel and Word.
• Capability to participate in auto catastrophe responses, extended deployments, and unscheduled travel with little notice.
• Strong mathematical and negotiation abilities.
• Ability to stay updated on jurisdictional laws and regulations and communicate compliance requirements.
• Commitment to ongoing education.
• Must either reside in or be willing to relocate at personal expense to the assigned Westchester and Bronx, NY territory.
• Insurance license(s) may be necessary and typically must be obtained within three months of employment, with ongoing continuing education requirements.
