Ophthalmic Assistant – Ophthalmology

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in United States.

📋 Description

• Manage patient records and coordinate appointments using IDX

• Answer phone calls, welcome patients, confirm billing details, and organize charts for office visits

• Aid in clinical evaluations, including visual acuity, applanation pressures, patient history, keratometry, autorefraction, color vision, stereopsis, and EYESYS

• Educate patients on correct contact lens maintenance and the processes for insertion/removal

• Adjust and/or polish contact lenses as needed

• Oversee the inventory of materials and sanitize instruments

• Keep examination rooms organized and stocked

• Offer both administrative and technical support to an ophthalmologist

⛳️ Requirements

• High school diploma or equivalent certification, or a combination of education and experience

• Minimum of 2 years experience in a medical office environment

• Basic Life Support certification from the American Heart Association or American Red Cross

• Online BLS certifications that do not include a skills assessment are not acceptable

• Strong communication skills

• Proficiency in computer use

• Familiarity with medical terminology

• Effective organizational skills

• Commitment to patient care

• A driver's license is not necessary

• Successful completion of relevant pre-employment screening
