This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in California.
• Diagnose issues with server and network hardware, including fiber/optic cables, optics, and various hardware components.
• Oversee the lifecycle of circuit move, add, change, and disconnection orders (MACDs).
• Actively execute or supervise local vendor technicians for troubleshooting servers, circuits, and maintenance tasks.
• Ensure the physical layer installation of server and network cabling is performed according to established cabling matrices.
• Conduct troubleshooting and fault analysis for physical servers and circuits.
• Provide continuous support for the production environment and collaborate with vendors, system owners, and other operations teams to resolve issues.
• Manage and track requests/orders, producing weekly reports on progress.
• Document each implementation thoroughly.
• Participate in an On-Call Rotation for Ad-Hoc troubleshooting between internal teams and external service providers.
• Assist with regional tasks during business hours that relate to maintenance work.
• Ensure data accuracy across various databases.
• Develop strategies for improving the inventory database.
• Maintain server inventory records.
• Keep track of circuit inventory data.
• Manage spares inventory effectively.
• Formulate a plan to maintain a healthy stock of spares at each site/warehouse and initiate requests for additional spares when necessary.
• Request Site and Vendor Remote Hands to conduct site audits as required.
• Update internal documentation upon request.
• Handle Ad-Hoc tasks as they arise.
• Utilize a ticketing system (JIRA) to track all requests.
• Collaborate with SCM, equipment vendors, and data centers to manage delivery timelines.
• Drive process improvement initiatives.
• Provide support for vendor-related queries.
• Serve as the initial point of contact for all vendor inquiries related to interconnection and troubleshooting.
• Create and track Colocation Inbound/Outbound shipments as needed.
• Update internal documentation regarding all Internet Provider contacts and circuit details.
• Schedule onsite technicians and manage site access requests for both ad-hoc and scheduled activities.
• Submit Vendor Remote Hands Requests to facilitate physical work on site.
• Conduct regular audits of all server, circuit, and spares inventory.
• Minimum of 2 years of experience in datacenter or corporate/enterprise IT infrastructure, adhering to IT best practices (ITIL) and managing equipment lifecycle processes.
• Proven experience executing detailed Method of Procedures (MOPs) and technical instructions while following documentation.
• Familiarity with relevant technologies such as fiber optics, DWDM/CWDM devices, and various network interface types, including form factors and protocols.
• Strong troubleshooting skills in technical, logistical, process-related areas, and more.
• Experience in planning and coordinating with field operation technicians, engineers, contractors, and vendors from Telecom ISP and Colocation Providers.
• Exceptional oral and written communication skills.
• Ability to clearly articulate ideas and provide effective remote technical guidance and troubleshooting.
• Basic command-line proficiency in Linux/Unix and experience with any switch OS CLI.
• Capability to work independently with minimal supervision.
• Preferred qualifications include experience in coordinating/leading junior field operation technicians, engineers, contractors, or vendors in a telecommunications environment.
• Experience collaborating across various levels and functions within an organization.
• Skill in anticipating potential issues during planning and proactively mitigating factors that could impact projects.
• Strong documentation skills for technical processes and procedures, as well as the ability to accurately record extensive detailed data.
• Relevant certifications such as Server+, Network+, A+, CDCTP, CDCPM, etc.
