This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Arizona, +2 more states.
• Instruct undergraduate and graduate courses in software development following the standards set by DeVry University.
• Enhance student learning through instruction focused on practical application.
• Create course syllabi and lesson plans that align with the objectives of the course and program.
• Organize, prepare, revise, and maintain course materials.
• Utilize online technologies, websites, email, online discussions, and course-related software effectively.
• Communicate clearly in both oral and written forms to engage students and clarify concepts.
• Establish course expectations, objectives, assignment and exam schedules, and evaluation criteria.
• Develop exams that correspond with the terminal objectives of the course.
• Assess exams consistently and fairly while providing timely feedback to students.
• Incorporate responsible AI technologies into the teaching and learning processes.
• Identify, evaluate, and manage appropriate and inappropriate use of AI tools among students.
• Perform other duties as assigned.
• A Doctorate in Computer Science, Software Engineering, Information Systems, or a closely related field is required.
• A minimum of 18 graduate credit hours in software development, programming, software engineering, or related computing disciplines.
• Unofficial graduate-level transcripts must be submitted with the application.
• The degree must be obtained from an institution accredited by an agency recognized by the U.S. Department of Education or the Council for Higher Education Accreditation, or an equivalent internationally accredited institution.
• 3 to 5 years of practical professional experience in software development, software engineering, application development, or similar programming roles.
• Proven experience with contemporary programming languages, development frameworks, and software engineering methodologies.
• Experience in designing, developing, testing, and deploying software applications.
• Possession of industry-recognized certifications or professional credentials related to programming, software engineering, or application development.
• Strong expertise in software development principles.
• Exceptional communication skills with the ability to convey complex programming and development concepts to a diverse range of learners.
• Understanding of secure coding practices, software lifecycle management, and quality assurance techniques.
• Familiarity with testing, debugging, and version control methods.
• Additional requirements may apply based on state licensing, institutional policies, or accreditation standards.
• Commitment to continuous professional development in instructional technology, digital literacy, and responsible AI practices.
• Preferred: Industry certifications in programming or software development technologies such as Python, Java, or .NET.
• Preferred: Experience with Agile, Scrum, test-driven development, and iterative design.
• Preferred: Knowledge in DevSecOps, CI/CD pipelines, automated testing, and version control platforms.
• Preferred: Experience in full-stack application development, including front-end, back-end, and database integration.
• Preferred: Familiarity with accreditation processes, outcomes assessment, curriculum mapping, and continuous improvement practices.
• Preferred: Active membership in professional software development or computing organizations.
• Preferred: Experience with development environments, collaborative coding platforms, and project-based software development labs in post-secondary education.
• Preferred: 2 to 5 years of experience in post-secondary teaching.
