This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Canada.
• Lead online therapeutic gaming sessions designed for children and adolescents.
• Establish safe, welcoming, and supportive environments where participants feel appreciated and encouraged.
• Assist youth in enhancing their social communication, teamwork, problem-solving, emotional regulation, self-confidence, and peer relationship skills through structured gaming activities.
• Promote group involvement and participation while tailoring activities to meet individual needs.
• Observe and record group interactions, progress, and areas where participants may require extra assistance.
• Work closely with Occupational Therapists to support therapeutic objectives, track progress, and help youth practice skills in engaging and meaningful ways.
• Foster positive relationships with participants and their families through professional and empathetic communication.
• Offer suggestions that contribute to the improvement and expansion of our gaming therapy programs.
• Background in working with children or youth in therapeutic, educational, recreational, behavioral, community, or healthcare environments.
• Experience in facilitating groups, activities, camps, programs, social skills groups, or therapeutic sessions for children or youth.
• Strong knowledge of child development, social-emotional learning, and group dynamics.
• Exceptional communication and facilitation abilities.
• Capability to build rapport with youth and foster psychologically safe settings.
• Robust problem-solving skills and flexibility within group environments.
• Proficient in using technology and conducting sessions remotely.
• Familiarity with Minecraft or a readiness to learn how gaming can serve as a therapeutic resource.
• Occupational Therapy Assistant (OTA) diploma or experience collaborating with Occupational Therapists (preferred).
• Experience supporting neurodivergent youth, including those with autism, ADHD, anxiety, or social communication difficulties (preferred).
• Fully remote position.
