Network Support Engineer

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Malaysia.

📋 Description

• Develop innovative features and enhance existing code for VyOS, ensuring implementations are efficient and maintainable.

• Collaborate with fellow developers to review and validate code modifications, test feature implementations, and provide constructive feedback on bugs, optimizations, and feature suggestions.

• Produce technical content, including solution briefs, datasheets, and graphical materials tailored to address specific networking use cases and technical requirements.

• Design, deploy, and configure network infrastructures utilizing VyOS and other networking equipment to achieve project objectives and meet performance standards.

• Create and deploy Proof of Concept (PoC) scenarios using VyOS, documenting configuration setups, performance benchmarks, and solution viability tailored to customer-specific needs.

• Diagnose and resolve issues related to network performance, security, and connectivity, employing advanced debugging and analysis tools.

• Investigate escalated technical challenges, perform root cause analysis, and provide reproducible solutions or comprehensive technical reports for development resolution.

• Execute functional, performance, and regression testing for VyOS features and fixes, while creating and maintaining thorough test documentation.

• Develop and manage automated testing frameworks for repetitive test cases, enhancing accuracy and efficiency in testing.

• Improve testing methodologies by integrating advanced tools and frameworks to optimize validation processes and outcomes.

• Perform interoperability testing with third-party systems to ensure VyOS integrates seamlessly into various networking environments.

• Maintain a centralized knowledge base with detailed, technically accurate articles and solution documentation to support both internal and external stakeholders.


⛳️ Requirements

• Strong knowledge of networking protocols including BGP, OSPF, VPNs, and firewalls.

• Practical experience with VyOS or other open-source networking platforms.

• Proficiency in scripting languages such as Python or Bash for automation and testing purposes.

• Exceptional troubleshooting and problem-solving skills within complex network environments.

• Experience in network performance tuning and adherence to security best practices.

• Familiarity with software-defined networking (SDN) and principles of cloud networking.

• Capability to develop and execute test cases focused on network functionality and performance.

• Outstanding written and verbal communication skills for technical documentation and collaboration.
