Network Security Engineer

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Malaysia.

📋 Description

• Configure, deploy, and sustain security appliances including firewalls (Palo Alto, Fortinet, Juniper, Check Point), IPS/IDS, load balancers (F5, Citrix ADC), and VPN concentrators.

• Create, implement, and review firewall and IPS/IDS policies.

• Design, configure, and maintain application load balancing to ensure high availability, efficient traffic distribution, and performance enhancement.

• Set up and support site-to-site and remote access VPNs (IPSec, SSL VPN).

• Utilize network/security monitoring tools to monitor device health, performance, and potential threats.

• Deploy and oversee security appliances and load balancers within public cloud environments (AWS, Azure).

• Develop and maintain scripts (Python, Bash, PowerShell) to automate routine tasks, configuration backups, and reporting processes.

• Keep documentation current for appliance configurations, standard operating procedures (SOPs), and change logs.

• Conduct regular security evaluations and vulnerability assessments.

⛳️ Requirements

• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Engineering, or a related field.

• Minimum of 2 years of hands-on experience managing network security appliances, firewalls, and load balancers in enterprise or cloud settings.

• Expertise in configuring and troubleshooting firewalls (Palo Alto, Fortinet, Juniper, Check Point) and load balancers (F5, Citrix ADC).

• Strong understanding of IPS/IDS systems and their integration within network architectures.

• Experience with cloud security (AWS, Azure), including the deployment and management of cloud-native security appliances.

• Knowledge of networking principles (TCP/IP, DNS, DHCP, routing, switching, VLANs).

• Familiarity with VPNs (IPSec, SSL VPN), access control, and secure remote access methodologies.

• Proficient in network monitoring, management, and automation tools.

• Strong scripting and automation capabilities (Python, Bash, PowerShell).

• Awareness of industry standards and regulatory guidelines (ISO, PCI, GDPR).

• Excellent analytical, troubleshooting, and problem-solving skills.

• Strong communication and documentation skills.

• Relevant certifications: PCNSE, Fortinet NSE, F5 Certified BIG-IP Admin, CCNA/CCNP Security, CompTIA Security+, or equivalent.

• Experience with implementing Zero Trust, WAFs, and DDoS mitigation strategies.

• Background in designing secure hybrid and multi-cloud networks.

• Experience in both B2B and B2C environments.

• Familiarity with automation/orchestration platforms (e.g., Ansible, Terraform).
