This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in California, +2 more states.
• Collaborate with the Director of Institutional Giving to convert organizational priorities into viable funding opportunities.
• Assist in the development and refinement of concepts for national funding, encompassing initiatives related to Marketplace, journalism access, and community impact.
• Perform research and landscape analysis to pinpoint aligned national funders and uncover emerging opportunities.
• Contribute ideas, connections, and insights during strategy discussions, showcasing initiative and curiosity.
• Help transform early-stage concepts into clear and actionable funding strategies.
• Design and execute proactive engagement strategies aimed at reaching priority national funders.
• Identify where target funders are gathering and formulate strategies to position MPR|APM in those contexts.
• Innovatively secure opportunities for connection, including warm introductions, partnerships, and thought leadership positioning.
• Utilize internal and external networks to foster relationships and open doors.
• Create customized engagement strategies for each priority funder.
• Maintain persistence and momentum in outreach efforts.
• Build and oversee a portfolio of national institutional prospects and funders.
• Lead the creation of grant proposals, letters of inquiry, and concept papers.
• Translate complex organizational priorities into compelling narratives tailored to national funders.
• Coordinate across internal teams to compile inputs and ensure alignment.
• Manage timelines and guarantee that proposals and deliverables are completed punctually.
• Support post-award reporting and stewardship communications.
• Act as a connector among internal teams to advance funding opportunities.
• Ensure consistency between strategy, programmatic priorities, and funder expectations.
• Bachelor’s degree in a relevant field (e.g., Nonprofit Management, Public Administration, Communications, Journalism, or similar).
• 3–6 years of experience in fundraising, philanthropy, partnerships, or a related domain.
• Experience in writing grant proposals or similar strategic communications.
• Proven ability to manage multiple projects and advance initiatives effectively.
• Familiarity with institutional funders (foundation, corporate, or government) is preferred.
