This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Virginia.
• Develops, models, documents, and manages the logical and conceptual data architectures, relationships, and schema evolutions for intricate, enterprise-level applications aimed at supporting tracking and accountability reforms.
• Evaluates existing and emerging system requirements, subsequently creating thorough technical, structural, and organizational specifications to facilitate auditable and transparent data flows.
• Sets and enforces data modeling standards, capacity planning, and performance optimization to ensure high-reliability environments for the Department of Workforce (DoW).
• Constructs efficient Python-based scripts and ETL/ELT pipelines for secure and effective data ingestion, transformation, and integration from various sources.
• Utilizes extensive knowledge in Relational Databases (SQL) for advanced querying, schema design, optimization, and ensuring data integrity.
• Operates within Agile/SAFe development frameworks to produce iterative, high-value increments that align with business priorities and DoW policies.
• Offers technical guidance and mentorship to synchronize development efforts with strategic FMS reform objectives, including improved tracking, oversight, and reporting.
• Demonstrated experience in Python development, including the construction of scalable data pipelines and automation solutions.
• Capability to work autonomously while excelling in collaborative team environments.
• Self-driven individual with strong problem-solving abilities and a proactive mindset.
• Clearance: Must have and retain an active Secret clearance at the time of consideration.
• For Database Engineer II: 2 years of relevant experience with a Bachelor's degree in a related field; 0 years of experience with a Master's degree in a related field; or a High School Diploma or equivalent with 6 years of relevant experience.
• For Database Engineer III: 5 years of relevant experience with a Bachelor's degree in a related field; 3 years of relevant experience with a Master's degree in a related field; 0 years of experience with a PhD in a related field; or a High School Diploma or equivalent with 9 years of relevant experience.
• For Database Engineer IV: 9 years of relevant experience with a Bachelor's degree in a related field; 7 years of relevant experience with a Master's degree in a related field; 4 years of relevant experience with a PhD in a related field; or a High School Diploma or equivalent with 13 years of relevant experience.
