This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in District of Columbia, +3 more states.
• Enhances student success by offering preventive services and addressing identified needs.
• Strategize for postsecondary opportunities (enrollment in education, military enlistment, or workforce employment).
• Implement academic achievement strategies.
• Direct students and families towards college and career readiness.
• Conduct quarterly meetings with all students on the caseload to evaluate graduation plans and post-secondary options.
• Provide classroom instruction in accordance with student success standards.
• Assess transcripts and other academic records.
• Work collaboratively with teaching staff to create a four (4) year graduation plan.
• Aid students in determining course placements.
• Offer short-term counseling to students and refer them for long-term support.
• Establish a support system that bolsters the efforts of teachers, staff, and parents.
• May represent students at IEP meetings.
• Emphasize goal setting and academic planning for college and career readiness.
• Serve as a change agent to enhance equity and access.
• Bachelor's degree.
• Virginia School Counselor Certification.
• A minimum of three (3) years of experience in counseling and/or advisement.
• Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite, web-based search engines, and database systems.
• Capability to pass the required background check.
