This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Virginia, +1 more state.
• Perform on-site Initial, Recertification, Revisit, Desk Audit, Complaint, Focus, and Pilot surveys for long-term care and non-long-term care healthcare programs across the United States and its Territories.
• Execute surveys in accordance with the State Operations Manual.
• Generate precise deficiency reports following the Principles of Documentation and the HMS Master Writing Guide.
• Clearly associate identified deficient practices with relevant regulations.
• Notify appropriate Quality Assurance staff of Immediate Jeopardy and Substandard Quality of Care findings.
• Collaborate with Quality Assurance personnel to ensure findings are properly documented and defensible prior to submission to CMS or SSA.
• Submit documentation within established deadlines.
• Convey survey findings through the approved Quality Assurance process.
• Identify and communicate opportunities for enhancing the survey process to leadership.
• Accept survey assignments as directed by CMS and HMS.
• Maintain up-to-date knowledge of CMS and HMS policies, Medicare regulations, and CMS QSO memoranda.
• Experience in completing CMS surveys is a must.
• Completion of required CMS training for the specific provider types of interest.
• Strong critical thinking skills and the ability to make informed decisions.
• Capability to perform all tasks required by the facility.
• Bachelor’s degree and 3 years of relevant experience, or a combination of education and experience that is equivalent.
• Qualification for the Surveyor Minimum Qualifications Test (SMQT) for LTC surveyors.
• Preference will be given to registered nurses, LPNs, licensed social workers, and dietitians.
• Licensed RN is preferred.
• Must be able to pass a federal background check.
• Must be legally authorized to work in the U.S. without the need for visa sponsorship.
• Extensive travel is required.
• Current knowledge of CMS and HMS policies and procedures, Medicare regulations for relevant healthcare facilities, and CMS QSO memos is essential.
