Material Compliance Engineer – Data Analytics

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Malaysia.

📋 Description

• Ensure global compliance of materials for electronic products by overseeing product material data, supplier declarations, analytics, and regulatory submissions.

• Enhance data quality, automation, and decision-making within engineering, sourcing, and quality teams.

• Oversee the compliance database - Review, analyze, and correct compliance data to ensure the required data integrity and validity.

• Gather, validate, and sustain material compliance data (IPC-1752A/1754, CMRT/EMRT, declarations/certifications, FMDs) from suppliers.

• Create scripts/ETL to automate data ingestion, deduplication, and validation from PLM/ERP systems and supplier portals (APIs, CSV/XML).

• Manage materials compliance data across product BOMs – Conduct gap/risk analysis, prioritize supplier outreach, and monitor closure to targets.

• Prepare and manage regulatory dossiers and customer responses related to EU REACH/SCIP, RoHS, EU Battery Regulation, TSCA, Prop 65, WEEE, Conflict Minerals, and upcoming PFAS obligations.

• Develop and maintain dashboards and reports (e.g., Power BI/Tableau) to track coverage, risk, and program KPIs.

• Incorporate compliance checks into change control (PCNs/ECOs) and design-for-compliance evaluations.

• Assist in internal/external audits and deliver training to engineering and sourcing teams.

• Collaborate with vendors/platforms (e.g., Assent, BOM check, Silicon Expert, Source Intelligence) to enhance coverage and data quality.


⛳️ Requirements

• BEng/BSc in Materials/Mechanical/Electrical/Environmental Engineering, Chemistry, or a related field.

• Over 5 years of experience in product/material compliance in electronics or electro-mechanical manufacturing.

• Familiarity with EU RoHS, REACH and SCIP, TSCA, Prop 65, WEEE, Conflict Minerals (CMRT/EMRT), and PFAS.

• Expertise in MS Power BI, Power Query, DAX, and Azure Data Factory.

• Proficient in SQL language, database management, and ecosystems.

• Proficient in English.

• Experience with product BOM and PLM/ERP systems (SAP or Oracle).

• Familiarity with MS Power Automate and Power Apps is an advantage.

• Adaptable with strong initiative, keen attention to detail, and a commitment to data accuracy, consistency, and governance.
