Maritime IT Field Service Technician

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Panama.

📋 Description

• Execute field installations, upgrades, and commissioning of VSAT systems (C/Ku/Ka-band), Starlink, and L-band terminals (such as FleetBroadband and Iridium Certus).

• Carry out IT systems integration, which includes setting up onboard LAN/WAN, IP networking, firewall configurations, and conducting cybersecurity compliance checks.

• Deliver hands-on technical assistance for onboard IT systems, encompassing routers, switches, servers, Wi-Fi access points, and IoT maritime devices.

• Work in collaboration with NOC teams and remote engineering support to identify and rectify connectivity and system performance challenges.

• Conduct site surveys, complete service reports, prepare handover documents, and create technical documentation adhering to Global Satcoms’ standards.

• Ensure adherence to all safety protocols and client-specific demands during onboard interventions.

• Maintain effective communication with vessel agents, ship operators, and logistics teams to coordinate travel, tools, and spare parts for interventions.

• Provide customer training and onboard assistance during handover processes when required.

⛳️ Requirements

• Demonstrated experience in field engineering or maritime IT support roles (at least 2 years preferred).

• Comprehensive knowledge of maritime VSAT, L-band, and hybrid satellite systems.

• Strong grasp of TCP/IP networking, VLANs, VPNs, and best practices in cybersecurity.

• Familiar with maritime regulations (IMO, ISPS) and the onboard IT environment.

• Capability to read technical diagrams and interpret system schematics.

• Excellent communication, documentation, and customer service skills.

• Proficient in English; knowledge of additional languages (such as Spanish, French, or Arabic) is an advantage.

• Valid seafarer’s medical (ENG1 or equivalent) and readiness to travel globally on short notice.
