Manager, Machine Learning Engineering – Underwriting

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Canada.

📋 Description

• Establish the technical direction for your team, assisting engineers in aligning it with significant, business-impacting initiatives.

• Serve as a force-multiplier through your definition and promotion of technical solutions and operational procedures.

• Work collaboratively across teams throughout the product development lifecycle by engaging with product management, design, and analytics to ensure that technical sustainability, risks, and trade-offs are clearly understood and effectively managed.

• Foster talent development by offering constructive feedback and guidance, while exemplifying best practices.

⛳️ Requirements

• A Bachelor's degree in a technical field with over 8 years of industry experience, including more than 3 years in a managerial role overseeing engineers.

• Expertise in machine learning, with experience in areas such as tree-based models, transformers, deep learning, and agentic ML.

• Strong engineering capabilities with the ability to provide hands-on technical leadership while engaging with our code and system architecture.

• You excel in uncertain environments and are adept at navigating from low-level programming languages to the architecture of large systems to grasp their functionalities.

• This role necessitates either equivalent practical experience or a Bachelor's degree in a related discipline.
