Manager, Machine Learning

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in United States.

📋 Description

• Take ownership of the model lifecycle, including requirements, experimentation, model development, evaluation, and model cards, collaborating with ML engineers on deployment and production infrastructure.

• Convert business challenges into clearly defined ML solutions: identifying what to model, establishing success criteria, and assessing the added value of ML compared to simpler methods.

• Create and uphold feature engineering pipelines for model development.

• Lead experiment design and uphold statistical rigor: ensuring that models are assessed with robust methodologies before and after deployment.

• Oversee model performance in production, monitoring quality over time, identifying data drift, and determining the necessity for retraining.

• Foster a culture of learning and collaboration both within the team and across partner departments.

• Conduct design and code reviews to elevate technical excellence standards.

• Recruit, mentor, and develop data scientists.

⛳️ Requirements

• Over 6 years of professional experience in building and deploying machine learning systems in production environments.

• More than 2 years of experience in mentoring and managing ML teams.

• Strong command of Python and SQL.

• Comprehensive understanding of ML principles: model selection, evaluation methodologies, feature engineering, and common pitfalls.

• Practical experience with PyTorch, scikit-learn, and XGBoost (or equivalent gradient boosting frameworks).

• Strong leadership abilities with a focus on developing ML talent.

• Excellent stakeholder management skills, with a proven ability to collaborate cross-functionally to achieve results.
