This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Nigeria.
• Act as the primary point of contact for internal teams requiring legal advice.
• Evaluate business proposals, product modifications, and partnerships for potential legal risks.
• Convert legal and regulatory requirements into straightforward, actionable guidance.
• Oversee relationships with external legal counsel, including briefing and managing costs.
• Prepare, review, and negotiate commercial contracts, including vendor and partnership agreements.
• Keep a contract register to monitor obligations, renewals, and timelines.
• Ensure contracts are executed, stored appropriately, and comprehended by internal teams.
• Handle regulatory filings, license applications, and communication with relevant authorities.
• Track regulatory changes and evaluate their implications for the business.
• Maintain a compliance calendar to monitor all regulatory deadlines.
• Transform regulatory requirements into internal policies and operational procedures.
• Assist in internal investigations and incident reviews related to legal or compliance issues.
• Perform structured risk assessments for new markets, products, or process modifications.
• Record findings, provide recommendations, and monitor the resolution of issues.
• LL.B + BL (Call to Bar is mandatory).
• At least 5 years of post-qualification experience in corporate law, compliance, or a similar role.
• Background in a regulated industry such as health insurance, financial services, or fintech.
• Extensive experience in drafting, reviewing, and negotiating commercial contracts.
• Experience interacting with regulators, including handling filings, correspondence, and audits.
• Proficient in interpreting legislation and translating it into practical internal guidance.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
• Solid understanding of corporate governance principles.
• Nice to Have: Familiarity with health insurance regulations (e.g., NHIA or similar frameworks).
• Experience with multi-jurisdictional legal or compliance work.
• Background in supporting board-level governance or reporting.
• Knowledge of digital health or health tech business models.
