This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in United Kingdom.

• Oversee the performance management of direct reports, which includes collecting stakeholder feedback, conducting and documenting performance discussions, establishing clear and measurable goals, providing updates on goal progress, and fulfilling other HR-related business requirements.
• Offer SMAs avenues for professional achievement and facilitate their growth into future leadership positions through mentoring, tailored development plans (for AbbVie employees), and presenting stretch opportunities.
• Aid in maintaining business continuity, adapting to changing needs, and fulfilling organizational objectives across the portfolio through effective, adaptable, and strategic management of resources, encompassing both short- and long-term demands, evolving geographic scopes, all facets of vacancy management, and individual growth and development.
• Ensure that direct reports are aware of and adhere to corporate and divisional policies and procedures in alignment with global regulations and guidelines by prompting timely completion and reinforcing training expectations.
• Play a role in the creation of Quality Systems Documents (QSDs) and the training curriculum for roles within SMAO.
• Build and cultivate relationships with direct reports and partnerships with cross-functional stakeholders to facilitate the implementation of aggressive execution strategies and achieve results across study teams.
• Contribute to organizational efficiencies, process enhancements, and the adoption of best practices by participating in SMAO/CSL/CDO workstreams and/or initiatives.
• Mentor fellow SMAO Line Managers as necessary.
• A Bachelor's Degree is required, preferably in a health care or scientific field.
• Extensive experience in clinical research, along with relevant study operations management and people management experience.
• Proven experience in managing direct reports.
• Exceptional interpersonal skills, including the ability to influence, communicate clearly and persuasively, align with, build trust, lead while respectfully challenging, and establish strong relationships with stakeholders in a cross-functional, global, remote/virtual team environment.
• Demonstrated success in coaching and mentoring, either directly or within a matrix environment.
• Strong analytical and critical thinking abilities, with the capacity to assess complex issues from various perspectives and drive informed decision-making.
• Ability to adapt swiftly to rapidly changing needs, requirements, and situations while exemplifying AbbVie’s leadership attributes.
• Experience in drug development and clinical operations, including a comprehensive understanding of ICH and GCP guidelines and operational knowledge of the global regulatory landscape.
• Proven track record in executing studies across global geographies and/or multiple therapeutic areas while managing several priorities in a fast-paced environment.
