Manager, Analytics Engineering

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in United States.

📋 Description

• Lead, mentor, and develop a team of Lead and Senior Analytics Engineers, fostering career growth, enhancing performance, and cultivating a high-trust team culture.

• Remain actively involved: write and review SQL/dbt code, steer technical design, and maintain a high standard for craftsmanship, testing, and documentation across our Snowflake + dbt stack.

• Own and manage the roadmap for your team’s segment of the analytics platform, prioritizing tasks that deliver the greatest business impact while balancing delivery, quality, and technical debt.

• Propel Forward’s data centralization vision by collaborating with Business Intelligence and the broader Analytics group to design and implement scalable data models, marts, and a dependable semantic layer that serves as the company's single source of truth.

• Lead the development of our semantic layer and metrics standards, ensuring that key business KPIs are defined once, governed clearly, and utilized consistently across dashboards, models, AI agents, and downstream products.

• Transform ambiguous business challenges posed by leadership and cross-functional stakeholders into well-defined technical solutions, clearly communicating trade-offs to both technical and non-technical audiences.

• Advocate for data quality, observability, and governance, including testing, lineage, cataloging, and incident response, so stakeholders can have confidence in the data.

• Promote technical excellence within our dbt project: model architecture, performance tuning, incremental strategies, and CI/CD practices that scale alongside data volume and team size.

• Contribute to shaping our hiring standards by recruiting, interviewing, and onboarding exceptional Analytics Engineers as the team expands.

⛳️ Requirements

• Over 7 years of experience in Analytics Engineering, Data Engineering, or Business Intelligence with a solid foundation in SQL and dimensional/data modeling.

• At least 2 years of experience in people management, leading senior individual contributors, including fostering performance and career development.

• Extensive hands-on expertise with dbt and a cloud data warehouse (Snowflake highly preferred), including incremental models, testing strategies, and macros.

• Proven experience in designing and managing a semantic or metrics layer that acts as a trusted source of truth within an organization.

• History of collaborating directly with senior cross-functional leaders (Finance, Risk, Operations, Product, etc.) to translate business challenges into sustainable data products.

• Exceptional written and verbal communication skills - capable of making complex technical decisions understandable to executives and non-technical partners.

• Demonstrated ability to mentor engineers, elevate the technical standard, and consistently deliver on an ambitious roadmap.
