This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in United States.
• Oversee the complete management of HO property claims involving litigation and appraisal, from assignment to final resolution, encompassing supplements and post-resolution tasks.
• Propel litigation strategy and development on each case, working closely with defense attorneys and providing clear guidance on case posture, exposure, and resolution pathways.
• Administer the appraisal process from initiation to award, including the selection of appraisers, engagement of umpires, and monitoring of scope and methodology.
• Make complex, independent decisions confidently and judiciously, taking responsibility for outcomes and escalating issues when necessary.
• Conduct in-depth investigations that involve reviewing policy terms, performing comprehensive coverage analyses, and evaluating damages on intricate HO property claims.
• Scrutinize claims for potential subrogation opportunities and identify possible fraudulent issues.
• Draft coverage position letters, reservation of rights, and other formal correspondence related to claims as required.
• Independently assess and write property damage estimates utilizing Cotality (formerly CoreLogic), applying independent technical judgment to determine scope and methodology.
• Critically evaluate estimates generated by public adjusters, contractors, and opposing experts, pinpointing gaps and unsupported claims.
• Prepare and maintain comprehensive file documentation, including coverage letters, estimates, activity notes, and settlement papers.
• Follow reserving best practices and accurately update reserves throughout the life of the claim.
• Deliver exceptional customer service to insureds, claimants, agents, public adjusters, attorneys, and appraisers throughout the claims process.
• Communicate and provide updates to insureds, claimants, agents, attorneys, and management throughout the duration of the claim, ensuring clarity, confidence, and timely communication for all parties involved.
• Maintain complete and proactive control of each file—anticipating next steps, setting clear action plans, and advancing claims without waiting for external prompts.
• Utilize strong verbal negotiation skills to navigate complex, high-stakes, and often convoluted claim situations—posing tough questions, identifying logical or documentation gaps, and securing equitable outcomes for all parties.
• Negotiate claim settlements with insureds, claimants, public adjusters, attorneys, and vendors with fairness, professionalism, and assurance.
• Collaborate and manage vendor partners—including defense counsel, appraisers, umpires, engineers, building consultants, and field inspectors—to ensure accurate, efficient, and aligned claim resolutions.
• Provide feedback on processes and performance while actively engaging with new litigation partners, helping to shape and enhance the program.
• Collaborate with internal teams—including SIU, Subrogation, Legal, and Catastrophe—to achieve aligned claim outcomes and contribute to team discussions.
• Support and mentor colleagues as needed, sharing expertise in litigation strategy, appraisal management, and complex estimating.
• A minimum of 5 years of HO claims experience, with proven expertise in managing litigation matters from assignment to resolution.
• Demonstrated ability to independently scope and author property estimates in Cotality—not just reviewing estimates created by others, but producing them with technical accuracy and precision.
• Experience overseeing the appraisal process from initiation to award.
• Strong verbal negotiation skills and a history of collaborating effectively with defense partners to influence litigation strategy and resolution.
• Familiarity with formal claim handling, including reservation of rights, coverage position letters, and related correspondence.
• Active adjuster license(s) or eligibility to obtain licenses in all required states; maintenance of licensure is a condition of continued employment.
• Experience in a remote or hybrid claims environment, with the capability to work from home without distractions.
• Proficient in Microsoft and Google productivity tools.
• Exceptional written and verbal communication skills, with the aptitude to convey information clearly and persuasively to diverse audiences including policyholders, public adjusters, contractors, experts, and legal counsel.
• Strong organizational, time management, and multi-tasking capabilities.
• Tech-savvy and comfortable utilizing advanced technology tools for adjusting.
• Ability to work independently, make challenging decisions without constant oversight, and proactively manage a complex workload in a dynamic team environment.
• Agile and adaptable mindset, comfortable with frequent changes and flexibility in a rapidly expanding company.
• Experience managing claims in Oklahoma and other West Coast states is preferred.
• Previous Auto Physical Damage (APD) experience is preferred.
• An innovative mindset with a history of contributing to process enhancements is preferred.
• Familiarity with MacBook and Google Suite products in claims management is preferred.
• Bachelor’s Degree or an equivalent combination of education and experience is preferred.
• CPCU, AIC, or other relevant professional designations are preferred.
