Lightning Developer

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants anywhere in the world.

📋 Description

• Take ownership and enhance our Lightning Network and Bitcoin payment infrastructure, implementing routine upgrades and fixes as well as significant enhancements across the entire stack.

• Engage directly with Lightning implementations (LND, CLN, or similar), focusing on payment channels and liquidity management.

• Examine the flow of our Lightning payments, including conducting forensic analysis after incidents, and establish monitoring systems and policies accordingly.

• Enhance the security of our cryptocurrency systems, including key management, HSMs, and the methods used to protect our funds.

• Assist in ensuring accurate accounting for crypto transactions by collaborating with the finance team so our financial records reflect the actual movement of Bitcoin.

• Assess and incorporate new Bitcoin and Lightning technologies as the industry evolves.

• Implement new payment protocols in production, ranging from payjoin to nostr-based flows.

• Develop the Lightning component of our agentic commerce initiatives.

• Collaborate with product and design teams, and contribute to our internal libraries and open-source tools.

⛳️ Requirements

• Several years of professional software development experience, demonstrating a history of delivering tangible products.

• Incorporate AI into your development process (using tools such as Claude Code, Codex, Cursor, or similar). This is essential for us.

• Profound understanding of the Lightning Network protocol and foundational Bitcoin principles.

• Practical experience with at least one Lightning implementation (LND, CLN, Eclair, or LDK).

• Strong proficiency with our backend technology stack, including Node.js and TypeScript, and comfortable with Python.

• Crypto-savvy. You actively use it, keep abreast of its developments, and you have a solid grasp of Bitcoin without needing explanations.

• Self-motivated. You identify opportunities and drive them forward rather than waiting for directives.
