Licensed Appeal Writer

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in New York.

📋 Description

• Analyze denied insurance claims

• Examine patients’ medical records

• Formulate strategies to overturn claim denials

• Draft written appeals

• Oversee and coordinate appeal processes in accordance with internal, client, and insurance-imposed deadlines

• Perform additional tasks as assigned

• Use, safeguard, and share patients’ protected health information (PHI) exclusively in line with Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act (HIPAA) regulations

• Consistently understand and adhere to Information Security and HIPAA policies and procedures

• Limit access to PHI to the bare minimum required for completing assigned responsibilities

⛳️ Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree or equivalent work experience required

• Must possess a current license as a Physician's Assistant (PA), Registered Nurse (RN), Nurse Practitioner (NP), Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN), Physical Therapist (PT), Occupational Therapist (OT), or a comparable professional license

• Ability to prioritize tasks effectively under tight deadlines

• Must be proficient with technology and capable of quickly adapting to new software

• High level of reading comprehension and proficiency in analyzing medical information and terminology

• Strong skills in Microsoft Office Suite

• Excellent interpersonal skills, with the ability to communicate effectively across all levels of the organization

• Strong problem-solving abilities, creative thinking, and the capacity to exercise sound judgment based on accurate and timely analysis

• High degree of integrity and reliability, coupled with a strong sense of urgency and results-driven focus

• Exceptional written and verbal communication skills are essential
