Learning Scientist

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in United States.

📋 Description

• Support pedagogical choices throughout the platform during both design and evaluation phases

• Modify and interpret the ALX learning framework for the platform

• Create experiments to test the fundamental pedagogical assumptions of the platform

• Conduct experiments utilizing the experimentation functionality

• Collaborate with engineers in the design and assessment of AI products

• Convert learning science insights into actionable product decisions

• Work alongside Anthropic Engineers, AI engineers, product managers, and data scientists to develop learning experiences

⛳️ Requirements

• Strong foundation in learning science, encompassing contemporary frameworks and their practical applications

• Knowledge of the strengths and limitations of LLM-based tools

• Capability to co-design AI tools in partnership with engineers

• Skills in experiment design, including formulating hypotheses and establishing measures

• Methodological integrity to rigorously test learning assertions

• Ability to question team assumptions, including those of technical leadership

• Proficiency in translating concepts across disciplines and functioning within an engineering team

• Skill to articulate a revised pedagogical belief and the evidence supporting that change

• Self-motivation to maintain constant communication through web collaboration and video conferencing

• Strong drive and work ethic to thrive in small physical teams and larger virtual settings

• Desirable but not mandatory: previous experience in EdTech product development

• Desirable but not mandatory: familiarity with competency frameworks or knowledge tracing
