Lead Software Engineer – Full Stack

📋 Description

• SignalWire is seeking a seasoned full-stack engineer with robust product instincts to take on the role of technical lead within one of our product teams.

• You will adopt a comprehensive approach to the developer and end-user experience across our APIs, SDKs, AI Agent platform, Call Fabric, and SWML, assuming full ownership from start to finish.

• Collaborating with engineering leadership, product teams, and our developer community, you will gain insights into emerging capabilities in real-time AI and communications, transforming them into products that developers are eager to utilize.

• We expect you to possess a product-oriented mindset, ensuring technical excellence across the stack (including performance, reliability, latency, and developer experience), while demonstrating genuine enthusiasm for the possibilities that programmable communications and embedded AI present.

• The ideal candidate for this position will navigate seamlessly across these domains, quickly adapt to unfamiliar systems, and prioritize customer impact.

⛳️ Requirements

• Possess 6+ years of hands-on engineering experience with proven capability to function as a technical leader.

• Be a proficient developer with significant technical expertise: You have developed backend services, created frontend interfaces, troubleshot infrastructure issues, and made impactful product decisions throughout your career.

• Utilize experimental data to inform decisions and maintain agility to pivot based on empirical insights.

• Have a history of elevating the standards around you, whether through mentorship, code reviews, enhancing tools, or setting benchmarks that improve the entire team.

• Embrace a product-centric mindset in engineering: You consider who is using what you develop, their reasons for using it, its effectiveness, and what future iterations of the product will involve.

• Exhibit a strong commitment to the developer experience, understanding the frustrations caused by subpar APIs, inadequate documentation, and unclear error messages, which drives you to create better solutions.
