Lead Software Engineer – Full Stack

📋 Description

• SignalWire is in search of a seasoned full-stack engineer with strong product instincts to step into the role of technical lead on one of our product teams.

• You will adopt a holistic perspective on the developer and end-user experience across our APIs, SDKs, AI Agent platform, Call Fabric, and SWML, taking full ownership from end to end.

• Collaborating with engineering leadership, product management, and our developer community, you will identify emerging capabilities in real-time AI and communications, transforming them into products that developers genuinely want to utilize.

• We expect you to possess a product-driven mindset, ensuring technical quality throughout the stack (performance, reliability, latency, and developer experience), while demonstrating genuine enthusiasm for the possibilities presented by programmable communications and embedded AI.

• The ideal candidate will navigate seamlessly across these domains, rapidly acclimating to unfamiliar systems and optimizing for customer impact.

⛳️ Requirements

• A minimum of 6 years of hands-on engineering experience, with a proven ability to function as a technical leader.

• A strong developer with substantial technical expertise: You have constructed backend services, developed frontend interfaces, resolved infrastructure challenges, and made significant product decisions throughout your career.

• Utilize experimental data to inform decisions, remaining agile enough to adapt based on empirical insights.

• A history of elevating the standards around you, whether through mentorship, code reviews, enhancing tooling, or establishing a benchmark that improves the entire team.

• A product-centric approach to engineering: You consider who is using what you create, the reasons behind their usage, the effectiveness of your solutions, and what the next iteration of the product should involve.

• A deep concern for the developer experience, understanding the frustrations caused by inadequate APIs, subpar documentation, and unclear error messages, motivating you to create better solutions.
