Lead Performance Tester – SDET

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in India.

📋 Description

• Define and spearhead the performance engineering strategy for high-availability, cloud-native telecom platforms.

• Lead, mentor, and coordinate a distributed guild of Software Development Engineers in Test (SDETs) across various feature teams.

• Design, develop, and enhance scalable backend performance frameworks utilizing k6, Python, Java, or TypeScript.

• Implement and oversee production traffic replay strategies (e.g., GoReplay) and complex multi-tenant test data generation.

• Take ownership of and drive performance, load, stress, endurance, scalability, and resilience testing.

• Validate real-time communication systems, event-driven architectures (Kafka, RabbitMQ), and high-throughput distributed systems.

• Integrate performance testing into Continuous Integration/Continuous Deployment (CI/CD) pipelines.

• Utilize observability tools (Grafana, CloudWatch, Coralogix, VictoriaMetrics, PMM) to monitor, analyze, and troubleshoot system performance.

• Establish performance benchmarks, Service Level Agreements (SLAs), Service Level Objectives (SLOs), and error budgets.

• Collaborate with architecture and data teams to identify bottlenecks and validate database architectures.

• Analyze and optimize performance across both legacy monolith systems and modern microservices architectures.

⛳️ Requirements

• Demonstrated experience in mentoring and coordinating testing efforts across large, distributed engineering teams.

• Strong hands-on familiarity with AWS cloud services (EC2, ECS, RDS, API Gateway).

• Proven expertise in performance testing tools, particularly k6, along with JMeter or Gatling.

• Hands-on experience with production traffic shadowing or replay tools (such as GoReplay).

• Extensive experience testing distributed systems and message brokers (Kafka, RabbitMQ).

• Solid backend programming and scripting abilities in Python, Java, or TypeScript.

• Strong comprehension of system design, concurrency, throughput, latency, and fault tolerance principles.

• Experience in implementing performance testing within CI/CD pipelines.

• Hands-on experience with observability and monitoring tools (Grafana, Coralogix, PMM).

• Experience working in Agile environments.
