This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in North Carolina.
• Accountable for engineering activities related to Mechanical Nuclear Island Support Systems (MNISS) that facilitate the design of the BWRX-300 Small Modular Reactor (SMR).
• Focused on the Containment System (T10), which encompasses the containment function and its corresponding fluid sub-systems.
• Responsible for creating and updating the System Design Description, Process Flow Calculations/Diagrams, Piping & Instrumentation Diagrams (P&IDs), and other engineering documentation linked to the system.
• Tasked with developing specifications and component data sheets for fluid system in-line components.
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams, disciplines, project management, and contractors to guarantee the delivery of high-quality outputs on schedule in support of BWRX-300 engineering milestones.
• Provide assistance to the Licensing department regarding regulatory-related deliverables.
• Responsible for conducting analysis and design work that supports requirements specifications.
• Enhance project execution and departmental management using Six Sigma methodologies.
• Assist in the development of both new products and innovative technologies.
• Required to implement necessary corrective and preventive actions stemming from Quality non-compliance monitoring and audit programs.
• Drive continuous improvement initiatives, including Lean Action Work Outs (LAWO) focused on BWRX-300 technologies.
• Bachelor’s Degree in Mechanical or Nuclear Engineering from a recognized university or college.
• A minimum of 5 years of relevant experience in an engineering capacity.
• A Master’s degree in engineering or a related technical field is preferred.
• Previous Senior Reactor Operator (SRO) license is desired.
• Familiarity with working in a regulated environment, particularly in the nuclear sector.
• Experience with quality standards and systems, such as NQA-1 and ISO 9000.
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
• Strong interpersonal abilities.
• Proven capacity to analyze and resolve issues effectively.
• Demonstrated capability to lead programs and projects.
• A strong customer-oriented mindset.
• Ability to meet tight deadlines and perform well under pressure.
• Six Sigma training is an advantage.
• Established skills in project management.
