Lead Engineer – LOCA & Containment Analysis

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in North Carolina.

📋 Description

• Conduct thermal hydraulic evaluations and analyses for plant operations in areas including ECCS LOCA, Containment, HELB, Fire Safe Shutdown, Annulus Pressurization Loads, and RIPD analyses.

• Oversee fuel project initiatives such as reload analyses, method implementation, power uprates, new fuel introductions, and provide safety analysis support for urgent fuel concerns.

• Prepare, document, and present technical information to both internal and external stakeholders.

• Offer technical mentoring to enhance team development and facilitate knowledge management.

• Create and deliver training courses to support external commercial requests and internal audiences.

• Drive team process improvements to enhance efficiency and simplify operations.

• Ensure that all work is executed with high quality, adhering to regulatory requirements, customer expectations, and business quality assurance standards.

⛳️ Requirements

• Bachelor's Degree in an Engineering Discipline (Nuclear, Mechanical, Chemical, or related) from an accredited institution.

• At least 3 years of experience in Thermal-Hydraulic Nuclear Plant Safety Analysis.

• Proficiency in ECCS LOCA, Containment, HELB, Fire Safe Shutdown, Annulus Pressurization Loads, and Reactor Internals Pressure Difference analyses.

• Master’s Degree in Nuclear Engineering with experience in Thermal-Hydraulic modeling related to nuclear reactor systems.

• Understanding of reactor licensing requirements.

• Experience with BWR technology ECCS LOCA and Containment analysis to meet relevant regulatory standards.

• Familiarity with BWR/PWR Thermal-Hydraulic system codes such as TRACG, RELAP & TRACE.

• Experience in developing Best Estimate methodologies (e.g., TRACG LOCA).

• Knowledge of Best Estimate and CSAU applications.

• Programming skills in languages such as C#, FORTRAN, or PYTHON.
