This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in New York.
• Oversee the performance of capital project engineering across all phases, including scoping and budgeting, conceptual engineering, contract management, design, engineering design, construction, commissioning, and project closeout.
• Conduct field circuit evaluations based on the specified project scope and identify potential enhancements.
• Analyze sketches that detail existing and planned work actions in alignment with approved construction standards.
• Supervise and collaborate with both internal and external resources to ensure detailed designs comply with approved construction standards.
• Evaluate design inputs for SAP system notifications and authorize the corresponding construction work orders.
• Assess and approve design specifics to provide a comprehensive overview of the tasks to be executed by line and commissioning contractors.
• Generate engineering bid documents emphasizing unit-based pricing for all projects within the service area.
• Collaborate with Construction and Commissioning teams to guarantee effective equipment installation.
• Proactively devise alternative methods or design concepts to tackle unique challenges or enhance processes/services.
• Perform additional duties as required.
• Leverage expertise to influence and mentor departmental engineers.
• Willingness to maintain a hybrid office/remote schedule that includes required fieldwork.
• Provide technical leadership on complex projects that significantly affect the department.
• Mentor, develop, and support the team in technical competencies.
• Ability to collaborate effectively across departments.
• Act as a liaison to direct contractors on company policies, standards, and best practices.
• Work autonomously with minimal supervision.
• Bachelor’s degree in Electrical, Civil, or Mechanical Engineering.
• Professional Engineering License is preferred.
• Knowledge of distribution designs and construction is preferred.
• A minimum of 5 years of relevant experience.
• Experience collaborating with contractors.
• Proven experience in project delivery as required.
• Experience with overhead electrical distribution projects is preferred.
• Computer proficiency in Microsoft Outlook, Excel, Access, and Word; SAP and Primavera experience is advantageous.
• Ability to read and interpret circuit diagrams.
• Excellent diagnostic and problem-solving abilities to analyze unique technical and analytical issues.
• Demonstrated capability to lead and manage projects effectively.
• Strong management and leadership skills with the capacity to drive change and promote new technologies.
• Familiarity with the regulatory landscape, including relevant output and incentive mechanisms.
• General understanding of contracts, commercial aspects, and regulatory awareness, with the ability to balance efficient customer service and project execution for maximum return on investment.
• Ability to prioritize competing demands using sound engineering and financial judgment to identify optimal solutions.
