This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in United States, +21 more states.
• Travel extensively (100%) to wind farms across North America on an 8/1 rotation.
• Provide leadership and mentorship to fellow technicians on a team, focusing on proper composite blade repairs, including up to Category 5 complex or specialty repairs.
• Execute expert composite blade repairs uptower using platforms, and occasionally on the ground, with potential rope access requirements.
• Conduct Epoxy and Polyester resin wet lay-up, vacuum infusion, and work with balsa and foam sandwich materials.
• May be tasked with performing structural repairs on blades.
• Complete comprehensive Daily Progress Reporting Documents and QA/QC reports, ensuring adherence to Quality Checkpoints.
• Carry out onsite stock assessments.
• Exhibit strong leadership qualities within the team.
• Support the site lead and project coordinator as necessary.
• Over 5 years of high-quality composite repair experience, specializing in all types of blade repairs.
• Proficient in epoxy and polyester resins, wet lay-up techniques, and vacuum bagging methods.
• Experienced in handling balsa and foam core materials.
• Knowledgeable about fiberglass reinforcement and structural repair techniques.
• Capable of safely and effectively using powered hand tools.
• Possess good finger dexterity, including precise operation of hand and power tools.
• Familiarity with repair specifications regarding wind speeds, temperature, and humidity limitations.
• Ability to read and interpret complex technical drawings and processes.
• IT literate, proficient in email, internet, and iPad usage.
• Excellent team player with the ability to take guidance and provide leadership when necessary.
• Experience in safely setting up and using 360-degree and 2M basket platforms.
• Willing to travel frequently, including air and ground transport, often at short notice, and to spend extended time away from home at project sites.
• Capability to drive or travel up to 11 hours per day as needed.
• Flexibility to adjust to changes in project scope and work assignments.
• Able to work safely in outdoor environments under extreme heat and cold conditions.
• Physically fit to meet demanding job requirements, including climbing ladders multiple times daily up to 300 feet (90 meters), bending, crawling, stooping, and lifting up to 75 pounds.
• Capable of wearing a respirator and working safely with personal protective equipment.
• Good vision (with corrective lenses if necessary) to conduct detailed inspections, read instructions, and operate equipment safely.
• Must possess a valid driver’s license with a good MVR report and be 21 years of age or older to operate a company vehicle.
• A valid passport is advantageous.
• Must be eligible to work in the U.S. or Canada (citizenship or legal work authorization required).
• Must successfully pass a criminal background check and maintain a drug-free status.
• GWO BST (Basic Safety Training) – fire awareness, working at heights, manual handling, first aid is a plus.
• GWO Blade Repair or Advanced Blade Repair certification is a plus.
• GWO Slinger Signaller or Siemens Rigging Safety certification is a plus.
• IRATA or SPRAT rope access experience and certification is a plus; the certificate must be current, and the candidate must be physically competent in performing rope access work safely.
• OSHA 10 General Industry EHS Regional Compliance is preferred (assistance available to obtain certification).
• SGRE Blade C or Blade D certification is preferred but not required.
