Lead Backend Engineer – Payments Team

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in United Kingdom.

📋 Description

• Design, develop, and sustain backend services utilizing Python 3.11 with Django / DRF.

• Spearhead technical initiatives pertaining to payments infrastructure and integrations.

• Propel enhancements in system reliability, observability, and operational excellence.

• Collaborate closely with Product, Operations, Compliance, and external partners.

• Investigate production problems and pinpoint root causes rather than implementing temporary solutions.

• Refine legacy systems and minimize technical debt.

• Facilitate architectural discussions and guide technical decision-making.

• Mentor engineers through code reviews, collaborative work, and technical advice.

• Assume responsibility for the delivery, planning, and execution of intricate projects.

• Assist in the growth and development of the engineering team.

• Over 5 years of experience in backend development.

• Proficient in Python and Django.

• Proven experience in leading projects or engineering teams.

• Strong grasp of distributed systems, integrations, and system reliability.

• Experience managing complex legacy systems and addressing technical debt.

• Capability to provide clarity in ambiguous circumstances.

• Excellent communication skills and adept at stakeholder management.

• Strong ownership mentality and a proactive approach to solving problems.

• Proficient in English (B2 level or above) and fluent in Russian.
