Lead Analytics Engineer, Looker

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Spain.

📋 Description

• Lead the AE team, fostering a high-performance culture while supporting individual career development.

• Conduct regular one-on-one meetings, provide constructive feedback, and oversee performance evaluations.

• Manage team capacity and prioritize sprints, balancing technical debt with stakeholder requirements.

• Assist in recruitment efforts and ensure new hires experience a seamless onboarding process.

• Oversee the design, development, and maintenance of centralized Looker semantic models (LookML).

• Act as the "Gatekeeper" for Looker, upholding coding standards, ensuring modularity, and enhancing performance optimization.

• Establish and maintain effective version control and deployment pipelines in GitLab for the semantic layer.

• Collaborate with Data Engineering to define table structures and schemas that enhance downstream analytical performance.

• Convert the business requirements of Corporate, Marketing, CS, Sales, and GTM Ops Analysts into scalable data models.

• Identify manual workflows and automate them through Python scripts, API integrations (Looker API), or Agentic AI.

• Revamp the team’s workflow by co-developing and enforcing a structured Jira ticketing system to promote transparency and efficiency.

⛳️ Requirements

• Expert-level expertise in Semantic Layer, LookML, Liquid, and Looker administration.

• Familiarity with Looker API is a significant advantage.

• Previous experience with transitioning from another tool to Looker is highly beneficial.

• Advanced proficiency in SQL (including advanced window functions and optimization) and experience with cloud data warehouses (e.g., Snowflake, BigQuery).

• At least intermediate knowledge of dbt.

• Strong understanding of Git workflows, CI/CD principles, and data modeling methodologies (such as Kimball and Data Vault).

• Ability to write Python for workflow automation or API interactions.

• Previous experience with AI Agents in the conversational analytics domain is highly desirable.

• Proven track record of leading or mentoring a team of engineers in an agile setting.

• Capability to articulate complex technical trade-offs to non-technical stakeholders in Marketing or Finance.

• A strong commitment to documentation, maintaining Jira hygiene, and creating repeatable processes.
