This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Utah.
• Establish the AI engineering roadmap and architectural standards throughout the organization.
• Lead the decision-making process regarding build, buy, or integrate options for AI systems and platforms, ensuring accountability in articulating the rationale behind these decisions.
• Assess emerging tools, frameworks, and models; offer clear and justifiable recommendations to leadership.
• Act as the primary technical escalation point for intricate AI/ML system design challenges.
• Design AI solutions tailored for our enterprise platform.
• Create systems that prioritize scalability, reliability, and cost-effectiveness in production settings.
• Implement LLMOps practices.
• Ensure seamless integration of AI systems with existing product and engineering infrastructure.
• Collaborate closely with Product and Engineering leadership to ensure AI capabilities align with business objectives.
• Receive operational support to initiate and facilitate cross-functional engagement.
• Provide clear direction on resource allocation.
• Simplify complex technical concepts for non-technical stakeholders.
• Advocate for and implement AI-assisted coding practices and developer tools throughout the engineering organization.
• Establish standards for responsible AI development, including guardrails, evaluation frameworks, and security measures.
• Foster a culture of continuous improvement in how the organization develops and delivers AI-driven features.
• Bachelor's or Master's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related quantitative discipline (or equivalent practical experience).
• Over 8 years of software engineering experience, showcasing expertise in designing and delivering production systems where correctness, reliability, and auditability are critical.
• At least 2 years of experience developing production LLM/GenAI and agentic systems, along with fluency in AI-assisted coding tools and the ability to establish organization-wide standards, evaluations, and guardrails for AI-generated code.
• Strong judgment regarding the appropriate use of AI, ensuring that probabilistic agents are used for customer-facing and research tasks, while maintaining deterministic, auditable, and human-governed processes for policy adherence, financial transactions, and compliance.
• Experience in making and communicating build vs. buy vs. integrate decisions at an organizational level.
• Proficiency in Python and familiarity with the contemporary GenAI application stack, including agent/orchestration frameworks (e.g., LangChain, LlamaIndex, or similar), model-provider SDKs, vector databases, and evaluation tools.
• Outstanding written and verbal communication skills, capable of drafting a clear architecture decision record and presenting it to a board-level audience.
